What Happens to the Leftovers?

What Happens to the Leftovers?

One of the questions we’re often asked is what happens to the bread that doesn’t sell each week in our partner stores.

At The Crusty Cottage, nothing goes to waste.

Each Tuesday, after our store partners finish their weekly sales, we collect any remaining loaves and baked goods and bring them to Giving Hands Food Pantry at Covington First United Methodist Church.

This incredible ministry serves around 90 families every single week, helping ensure that local families have access to nourishing food. What began as a simple way to prevent waste has become one of the most meaningful parts of our weekly rhythm.

Bread has always been a symbol of provision, community, and care. When we bake each loaf, our hope is that it does more than simply fill a table — we hope it touches lives.

That’s why this partnership matters so much to us.

Every loaf that doesn’t sell still has a purpose. It becomes part of a larger mission to care for our neighbors and support families in our community who may need a little extra help.

Our faith reminds us that we’re called to look after one another, and this is one small way we try to live that out each week.

Through the generosity of our store partners and the dedication of the volunteers at the food pantry, hundreds of people are served through this effort every month.

Our mission has always been simple:

To touch thousands of lives, one loaf at a time.

And when we work together as a community, we truly believe it’s possible.
